IIM Bangalore Awards Gold Medals to Students
IIM Bangalore awarded gold medals to seven students across various programmes at a simple function held on the campus. And degrees were sent to the remaining students.
As per a special resolution passed by the Board of Governors, theIndian Institute of Management Bangaloremade announcements regarding 615 students from various programmes who graduated in 2020.
Gold medals were given to seven students across various programmes and out of the seven gold medalists, three are women out of which one woman got two gold medals. Even thoughIIMB's convocation has been postponeddue to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, the degrees will be sent to the students to help them with their academic and professional pursuit. Dr Devi Prasad Shetty, Chair, Board of Governors made the announcements and degrees were awarded by the Chair, IIMB Board of Governors to 27 students of the PGP Programme in Public Policy and Management, 14 students of the Doctoral programme, 70 students of the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management, 429 students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management, and 75 students of the Executive PGP in Management.
A simple function was held at the campus in which the four students, who were present on the campus and the gold medalists were conferred their degrees and medals by IIMB Director, Prof G.Raghuram. Programme chairs, board members and noted alumni of IIMB were also present and Dr Devi Prasad Shetty joined via video conferencing.
Dr Shetty while congratulating the students also advised them to not worry much about the current situation but focus on their bright tomorrow. From the PGPPM 2019-20 batch, Neha Verma won the gold medal for best academic performance, in EPGP 2019-20 batch, Rachana Kamath won the gold medal for the first rank and also for the best all-round performance. From the PGPEM batch of 2018-20, Siddhartha Garikapati won the gold medal and from the PGP batch of 2018-20, Narayan Sunil got the gold medal for securing the first rank.
Amid the coronavirus outbreak, various B-schools have deferred their convocations,suspended their classesand some have evenpostponed their GD-PI schedules or are conducting GD-PI virtually.
