IIT Gandhinagar to Collaborate with Other Engineering Colleges
IIT Gandhinagar is planning to increase its association with other engineering colleges of the state to perform better and benefit from one another. The institute has been given the approval by the board regarding the same.
TheIndian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar (IIT-Gn)is planning tocollaborate with other engineering collegeswithin the Gujarat state with an objective to improve its rankings and perform better. The institute has been given a green signal by the board to haveassociations and collaborations with other engineering collegesof the state. Till now, IIT Gandhinagar was associated with only one engineering college -Vishwakarma Government Engineering College in Ahmedabad.
Professor Sudhir Jain, Director, IIT Gandhinagar said that the education institutes can benefit from one another following which IIT-Gn has decided to call the principals of other engineering colleges and conduct workshops for them. There are over 16 government colleges, 121 self-financed engineering colleges in the Gujarat state.

Meanwhile, the institute is also working towards increasing its intake of students. There has been a significantincrease in the number of studentsin courses such as M.Sc, M.Tech and Ph.D. whereas a slight increase has also been witnessed in the B.Tech courses.
The institute is also coming up with a hostel which will accommodate more than 14,00 students, the construction of which will be completed by June 2019.
Prof Jain also informed that theintake of international students at IIT Gandhinagaris comparatively less as compared to other institutes. The institute is planning to focus on the same for which they have initiated talks with others countries. As of now, students from Nepal, Turkey, Sri Lanka and Papua New Guinea are studying at the institute.

The institute has also introduced the B.Tech-M.Sc dual degree course from this academic year.
