IIT (Kharagpur) and NIET (Greater Noida) Conduct Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT-Kgp) and Noida Institute of Engineering and Technology (NIET) jointly organised the ninth edition of the Entrepreneurship Awareness Drive (EAD) in Greater Noida. It witnessed the participation of 1,000 students from colleges across the city.

The primary reason behind conducting EAD was to stimulate the spirit of entrepreneurship and motivate students to work on an idea so that they can begin their own venture. EAD is one of the popular flagship events organised by Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur.

EAD enables the participants to get an understanding of different problems faced by the entrepreneurs in the past and the way they sorted out their problems. The event focuses on training a student to face challenges and difficulties as a real entrepreneur.

The Entrepreneurship Cell of IIT Kharagpur organised EAD in 23 cities across the country every year. Nine years ago, the event was conducted in ten cities with the participation of 15,000 students. The 8 ^th edition of EAD witnessed the participation of 30,000 students across 23 cities.

Mr. Ramana Batra, Convenor of EAD (NIET) revealed that the institute also encourages the students to come up with own ideas and allows them to incubate the best ideas through its incubation centre. NIET also awards prize money to the best ideas, he added.

The EAD at NIET witnessed the participation of renowned personalities and entrepreneurs who shared their experiences and ideas with the students. A renowned entrepreneur said that ‘a real entrepreneur is a person who does not wait for an opportunity and instead creates an opportunity on his own’.
