IIT Madras Final Placements 2017: NASDAQ, UIDAI and Apple among First-Time Recruiters

The final placements for the year 2017 at Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is all set to begin on December 1, 2017. Highly popular and reputed companies such as Apple, NASDAQ and UIDAI will be the first-time recruiters this year.

Compared to 2016, there has been a rise in the number of companies registering for placements in 2017. So far, 270 companies have registered for more than 400 job profiles. The first phase of placement process will be organised from December 1, 2017, to December 10, 2017. In another change of events, IIT Madras will host more than 50 start-ups this year.

According to sources, 32% of companies will be from IT sector, 25% from consulting/ analytics/ finance sector and 43% will be from companies from core engineering sectors. The placement season at IIT Madras looks promising this year. The premier institute also witnessed a surge in Pre Placement Offers (PPOs) with 114 PPOs in 2017.

A total of 1,110 students have registered for the placements from different departments and specializations at IIT Madras. Over 35 students have opted for deferred placements.

Apart from Apple, NASDAQ and UIDAI, the following companies will be the first time recruiters at IIT Madras placements this year: -

• UBS AG
• Alvarez and Marsal India
• Sekisui Chemical

Also, 19 companies will be offering international profiles in countries such as Taiwan, Japan, Singapore and the United States. With an objective to regulate stress faced by students in the early phase of the placement process, IIT Madras has abolished ‘Graveyard Slot’ that begins in the early hours of Day 1, usually from 12:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
