IITs Revoke Ban on Big Data Company Crayon Data

Crayon Data will no longer have to stay away from the recruitment system of IIT as the top notch institutes have revoked the ban as per the All IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) Placement Committee (AIPC). The company Crayon Data is a big data company and runs from offices in Singapore and India.

AIPC had recently banned 31 companies from taking part in the placement drives of IITs as they had failed to fulfill their commitments that they had earlier made while recruiting students. The company Crayon Data was among those 31 companies but according to AIPC’s new decision, the company will no longer be banned from taking part in the recruitment process.

The decision that lead to the change in IITs earlier decision was because many students have already been placed in the company from the IIT Roorkee campus. The company runs on funding from Japanese conglomerate Mitsui & Co and Tata Group chairman emeritus Ratan Tata's investment. According to a senior official from AIPC, it was found that the company has taken care of the necessary steps to be able to enter the placement drive organised for IIT students. This was confirmed via mail.

The official said that in order to accommodate IIT students, Crayon Data India Pvt. Ltd. has taken the required steps. The company was earlier among the barred companies as IIT did not have knowledge of the efforts made by the company for the students as they hadn’t updated about the same earlier. After looking at the initiative taken by the company in the favour of the students, the AIPC has further decided to remove the ban from the company and has allowed them to take part in the drive.

Some of the reasons why 31 companies were barred from entering the gates of IITs was because many companies had revoked offers, decreased salary, extended joining dates etc.
