IIT Roorkee and Microsoft Join Hands for Quantum Computing Programme
Microsoft Garage India has partnered up with the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee to provide the students expert knowledge on Quantum Computing Programmes. The course will be a part of the pool of elective available for B.Tech and M.Tech students and will be conducted for one semester.
The tech giant, Microsoft has been working towards developing its relationship with India over the recent months. The company has been partnering up with some of the premier Indian Educational Institutions. The latest addition to its partners is the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-Roorkee). The partnership will bring forth an opportunity for its students in learning quantum computing.
As per sources, Microsoft India will be offering the course to the students of IIT Roorkee, wherein the students will receive academic knowledge for an entire semester. They added the course, which will be available to the students of both B.Tech and M.Tech, will be offered as an elective from the pool of electives. The course has been structured in a collaborative effort between Microsoft and IIT Roorkee. It will offer the students access to the practical examples of Quantum Programming Language such as Microsoft Quantum Faculty and the Microsoft Quantum Development.
Sources have also stated that experts from Microsoft Garage will be helping the students learn the real-life applications and experiments along with the access to the tools that are applicable to the upcoming branch of technology. With over 15 years of experience gained from operating a quantum computing programme, it is only logical to spread the knowledge to future engineers.
On the occasion, the Director of Microsoft Garage, Reena Dayal said that their collaboration with IIT Roorkee will only promote and encourage the students to venture out to develop innovations for the future. Furthermore, the objective is to pass on the experience and knowledge gained from operating the quantum computing programme to the students. Stating that the knowledge gained by the students in the field will help them enhance their knowledge.

She further added that Microsoft Garage India has been working towards providing opportunities to grow. The aim is to provide the students with the chance to develop a knack for innovation along with the ability to come up with solutions to the current challenges. Microsoft is continuously working with academia and provide the learning minds of India with access to new and upcoming technologies, meanwhile, inspiring the students to constantly innovate, practice and be creative.
