Indian Origin Girl Passes UK Exams Despite Partial Blindness

After being hit by Glaucoma in her left eye, Simran Kaur, an 18-year-old Indian-origin girl in the UK got partially blind and was unable to attend her classes. Despite all the difficulties, Simran today passed her exams at the Villiers High School in Southall, West London. On learning about her condition, the school had advised her to take a year off but Simran decided to appear for her A level exams, secondary school leaving qualification in the UK.
Kaur in an interview said that the problem started as soon as she started my A-levels and at that time teachers tried to convince her to give up her one year and try again for the same next year, but she was determined to complete her A-levels the same year, so she convinced the head-teacher for the same.

On the other hand, her friends found it crazy to study and write exams without being able to see and without attending any classes.
After her exams in July, Kaur went through a corrective surgery on her eye which now enables her to see clearly. She says that her sight is back to normal now but will always remember that time as a real challenge.
According to her teacher Patrick Cootes, Simran has set an example in front of everyone and has proved that everything is possible if you have the will to do it.
Kaur has now been offered admission to Hertfordshire University but is weighing up her options for university.
