Jammu: Central Government Scholarships to be Directly Disbursed to Students’ Bank Accounts
The Ministry of Human Resource and Development has made it mandatory to seed aadhar number with students’ bank account
The Central Government will directly disburse the scholarship amounts to the students’ bank accounts from the current financial year for the eligible students in Jammu and Kashmir.
The officials of Higher Education Department in a press release stated for this purpose, Aadhar numbers of the students will be considered as identification. The students have to link their bank account with their Aadhar number.

The Ministry of Human Resource and Development has made it mandatory to link Aadhar number with students’ bank account. The Department has directed the universities and institutes to create proper awareness among the students regarding this.
The applications for the Central Scholarships have to be routed through National e-scholarship portal of the Government of India. The Department has directed the universities to take a proactive role in uploading relevant data regarding Non-DBT beneficiaries on the web portal of Union Ministry of Human Resource Development and University Grants Commission.

The last date for the submission of applications for Central scholarships is September 30, 2016. The department has clearly stated that the date will not be extended under any circumstances.
