<p>Jawaharlal Nehru Technical University Kakinada and Chicago State University will develop industry relevant course curriculum, beside that both the universities will also share faculty members.
The two universities obtained a grant of Rs. 1.25 crore for three years till March 2018 under the Indo-US 21st Century Knowledge Initiatives, a joint grant by both the countries.
“The initiative will focus on sharing JNTU-K’s faculty expertise with CSU’s curriculum development and other pedagogy to create infrastructure for industrial collaboration and development of entrepreneurship skills among students. The objective of the collaboration between the universities would be for mutual understanding, education reforms and economic development,” said a top official of JNTU-K.
“This is the need of the hour. Industry today needs employees, who can think creatively and come up with entrepreneurial ideas. Though the grant may appear small, but there is a huge potential in this collaboration with JNTU-K,” said David Kanis, from Chicago State University (CSU).
“The course curriculum needs to be changed and the faculty expertise and industry requirements have to be bridged for the benefit of both the countries,” he added further.
Expert from education field from both the universities believe that there was not much of collaboration with academics and industry.
