The students of Jawaharlal Nehru University continued their protest against the new admission rules. On February 10, 2017, students blocked the entry of officials into the administrative building of the varsity. Earlier, teachers’ association met President Pranab Mukherjee and sought his intervention into the matter. The students demanded that they would continue the protest until the varsity withdraws the new admission rules.

Students have been protesting for the past one month since the varsity adopted the UGC guidelines. The teachers’ association met the President who is also a visitor to the varsity and sought his intervention regarding new admission policies and the varsity’s decision to reduce the M.Phil & Ph.D. intake.

Further, JNTU Students’ Union revealed that they want to meet the Vice-Chancellor of varsity to discuss their grievances and they were holding a peaceful protest. JNU Teachers’ Association also claimed that the recent amendments made by JNU are against the Constitutional provisions and therefore, the varsity has to withdraw the new changes.
