Karnataka Government has filed a petition challenging the single bench order of Karnataka High Court on KCET repeaters issue 2022. The government filed the petition on September 13, and the first hearing on this matter will be taken up on September 15. The hearing will be taken up by Honourable Justice S Vishwajith Shetty. The petition was filed to provide justice to 1.85 lakh KCET 2022 fresher students as the previous High Court order on this issue is not satisfactory as per the Government of Karnataka.

Karnataka Government’s Petition on KCET Repeaters Issue 2022

Here are the case details pertaining to Karnataka Government’s petition on KCET repeaters issue 2022 -

Case Number

889/2022

Petition Filed by

The State of Karnataka

Judge

Honourable Acting Chief Justice and S Vishwajith Shetty

First Hearing Date

September 15, 2022

Time of Hearingafter 10:30 AM

On September 3, 2022, the High Court ordered KEA to revise KCET 2022 rankings by providing 50:50 weightage for repeater issues. There are almost 24,000 repeaters in the KCET exam this year and the number of fresher students is 1.85 lakh approximately.

It is most unlikely that a final decision on the KCET repeaters issue 2022 will be taken on September 15. The divisional bench will first go through the previous HC order given by the single judge bench and proceed with arguments. As the respondents are repeater students, arguments are expected to happen again.

As the counselling process of KCET 2022 is already getting delayed, a final decision on the freshers vs repeaters issue is expected as early as possible. On September 14, 2022, KEA released the draft seat matrix for KCET counselling 2022, and public feedback is being invited on the same.
