Kerala: Education Minister Denies to Sanction Autonomous Colleges in Private Sector

Prof. C. Raveendranadh, Education Minister of Kerala, gave a statement that the government would not sanction autonomous colleges in the private sector. He further added that the varsities in the state would be allowed 100 percent autonomy in academic affairs.

He clearly indicated that the LDF government would not sanction new private universities, self-financing colleges and autonomous colleges. He advised the universities to take up socially-relevant research.

Mr. Raveendranadh pointed that most of the research activities taken up by private universities just focus on getting patent rights and making profit out of it. He stated that the universities have to focus on research activities which are highly beneficial to the society.
He inaugurated the celebrations to mark the attainment of NAAC accreditation with ‘A’ grade by Calicut University on October 15, 2016. He also inaugurated the new block of ladies hostel at the varsity.
