“LEGEND ‘15 – The Film Festival at Sathyabama University Concluded

<p>The Department of Visual Communication, Sathyabama University, organized a short film festival “LEGEND '15” inaugurated by noted filmmaker S.P.Jhananathan.
While interacting with the students, S.P.Jhananathan said “a director should have a good understanding with the cinematographer and the co-workers to make a movie successful. Film has a wider reach to the audience. So, you young minds should concentrate on social causes and make a change.”
Om Prakash, the cinematographer, took up the second session said “The first shot you take is very important. Filmmakers will decide your talent looking at it. Always be different by making simple things look complicated.”
The final session of the first day was taken over by Manikandan, the National award winning debut filmmaker for his film ‘Kakka Muttai’.
The second day of LEGEND began with the session of Srinivas Mohan, the VFX supervisor.
Pritham Chakravarthy, guest faculty at the LV Prasad Film Academy, took up the next session. While interacting with the student she said students have to be more conscious while making a film. Have a universal theme in your films and people will appreciate your work”.
Radhika Ramasamy, the first Indian woman wildlife photographer, took up the final session of the second day while displaying her beautiful pictures and explained them technically to the students.
The third day was headed by the director, Ravi Kumar. He shared his experience about how he had made a mark in the film industry coming from a rural area. “Be confident on your script even if people discourage it. Your thoughts will be reflected in your actions”, he said.
Later after his session, the short films of the contestants were screened in the presence of renowned filmmaker. Radha Mohan, who judged the movies.
The first prize was won by the students of DG Vaishnav College for the short film “Pathu Ilaka En”. They were awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000. Second prize was won by Harikumar for the film "Aaram”, a prize amount of Rs. 10,000 was given. Third prize was shared by two students Surya Bharati and Sailabathy Narayanan for "Anna oru omlet" and "Kodungool" respectively and they were awarded Rs. 6,000 each.
