Lucknow Girl Tops IBT in English; Aspires to Join IFS
- Anahita Singh from Lucknow’s City Montessori School scored 100 percentile in the International Benchmark Test (IBT).
- She also secured a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and aspires to join the Indian Foreign Services (IFS).
A class 8 student of the City Montessori School, Cambridge section, Gomti Nagar Campus II, has scored 100 percentile in theInternational Benchmark Test (IBT)in English. The 13-year old Anahita Singh had appeared for the exam in November 2017 to test herEnglish skillsand has brought pride to the country by securing top position in aninternational-level exam.
Anahita hails from Lucknow and aspires to join theIndian Foreign Services (IFS). She said that scoring100 percentilein the IBT was a pleasant surprise and has helped her realize a passion for the language. She also added that her English skills will also help her in achieving her goal to join theIFSand becoming a diplomat.

IBT is an internationally administered test that is conducted for students from grades 3 to 10 to assess their skills in subjects like English, Science Mathematics and Arabic Language (A and B). The IBT is conducted once a year in several countries by theAustralian Council for Educational Research (ACER)once a year in many countries.

More than 50,000 Indian students appeared for the IBT. Anahita aced the test in all five skills of English language i.e. grammar, comprehension, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary by securing 100th percentile in the IBT. The principal of City Montessori School, Manjit Batra, informed that Anahita also won a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.

Talking about herpreparation strategy, Anahita said that international exams are not about mugging up facts and pouring them during the exam. Instead, one must focus on clearing concepts and learning as these tests help one analyse their performance alongside peers, the achiever added.
