Madhya Pradesh Comes up With Stringent Rules to Stop Mass Copying in Colleges

To stop the menace of mass copying during exams, Department of Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh has come with a stringent policy to keep it in check from 2017. Under the new rule, the college will lose its affiliation with the University if a report of mass copying comes to light.

The Department of Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh plans to cancel affiliations of private colleges from 2017 if complaints of mass copying are reported. At present, if mass copying is detected in any college, the college is meted out with a mild punishment of debarring the college from hosting the examination. But under the new rules, colleges will lose its affiliation.

The Department, in a letter written to the Registers of universities, has laid down the guidelines to conduct the examination in private colleges. Veeran Singh Bhalavi, Addition Secretary of Department of Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh said that such a strict move will definitely the stop mass copying during exams in colleges.

Frequent reports of mass copying has been reported by the media quite often. In the last few months, Department of Higher Education of Madhya Pradesh has got several complaints about mass copying in the private colleges and they have failed to stop the menace at the time of examination. The guidelines also mention that the students will not be allowed to appear for the exam in private colleges if found participating in copying.

Colleges, where mass copying have already been reported, should be denied the privilege of being an exam centrere, the Higher Education Department has instructed. The department has got several complaints that despite reports of mass copying, a number of private colleges have been allowed to hold examinations in the past.
