MAKAUT Introduces 25 Professional Courses

Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad University (MAKAUT) has launched 25 professional courses from the 2018-19 academic session while aiming to increase the employability level of the students after graduation and to provide them with relevant job opportunities.

Salkat Mitra, Vice-Chancellor of MAKAUT, stated that the university is constantly redesigning and upgrading their existing curriculum according to the demands of the industry. He also said that they have scrapped off all their old syllabus so that students can find relevant jobs. As per, All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) all universities across the country are required to follow one standardized curriculum so that they can keep pace with industry needs and demands. Therefore, the university is introducing 25 new courses from this academic year.

As of now, there are around 90 engineering institutes and 110 professional colleges affiliated to MAKAUT. As per reports, these new professional courses have been designed in continuous consultation with the Chambers of Commerce - at the national as well as at the state level. Furthermore, examples of courses that will be introduced include real estate management, culinary science, data science etc.

These new courses will be strictly job-oriented in nature. The courses will make students industry-ready and will be different from the traditional engineering courses that are currently being offered by the University at the bachelors and masters levels. Additionally, these upcoming programmes will not be the same as the AICTE approved four-year regular programmes, instead will be of three-year duration or shorter.
