Manipur University to Host 105th Indian Science Congress

The Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA) has announced that the 105 ^th Indian Science Congress will be hosted by Manipur Central University. The dates for 105 ^th ISC are yet to be confirmed by ISCA. The association has changed the venue of 105 ^th ISC after Osmania University expressed its inability to host the event . As per the previous schedule, the event was scheduled to take place from January 3 to January 7, 2018. According to sources, ISCA might conduct 105 ^th ISC in March 2018. The official dates will be confirmed in the first week of January 2018.

President of ISCA, Professor Achyuta Samanta revealed that a seven-member ISCA committee would visit the Manipur Central University on January 2 & 3, 2018, and confirm the dates for 105 ^th ISC. Over seven universities across the country have applied to host the event. However, Manipur Central University submitted letters to Governor and chief Minister expressing their interest in hosting 105 ^th ISC, which added weight to the varsity’s application, he added.

Recently, Osmania University opted out of hosting the grand event due to disturbance and uncertainty on the campus. The officials of varsity predicted that there might be chances for the student protests during the 105 ^th ISC. Therefore, the Vice-Chancellor informed ISCA regarding the varsity’s inability to host the event.

Now, the varsity has urged the students to focus on academics and directed them to refrain from protests. The VC of Osmania University also condemned rumours regarding his resignation. He urged the students not to believe the rumours spreading on social media platforms.
