The anxious class 10th students would have to wait some more as the Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) would only be giving out the marks next week. Normally in Maharashtra, CBSE releases the marks sheets of all the students and sends them to the respective schools for First Year Junior College (FYJC) admissions. This time however only grades and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) has been released by the board for class 10th students.

As Maharashtra is part of the Chennai region, an official from the CBSE regional office in Chennai stated,” We will not give the marks to the schools. We are in the process of finalizing the centres for Maharashtra, which would be ready by next Wednesday. Schools and students can collect the marks from these centres.”

Although students have been asking about the marks from the schools. A principal said,” Only students who came from outside the state would have to get their marks from the centres. Now, if we have to get results for all students through the centres, it will take a lot of time. If students need to visit a centre, it will only delay things further. Students will need their scores once the FYJC admission process begins.”

According to some the not sending of the marks would help reduce the competition among the students. In the words of Raj Aloni, principal, Ramseth Thakur Public School,” We haven’t heard from the board yet but we might get the marks in the next two to three days. In a way, it is good that there won’t be competition among students for just two or three percentage points.”
