Modi's Cabinet Reshuffle - Education Ministry Gets 3 Ministers of State From West Bengal, Jharkhand, Manipur

Three new Ministers of State from West Bengal, Jharkhand and Manipur have been sworn in as the new Ministers of State for Education as a part of the PM Modi's cabinet reshuffle. The first such reshuffle in Modi's second term from May 2019. Annpurna Devi, Subhas Sarkar and Rajkumar Ranjan Singh are the new Ministers of State. Dharmendra Pradhan has been appointed as the new Union Education Minister.
Annpurna Devi, a Lok Sabha MP for Kodarma in Jharkhand, will be serving her 1st term as a member of Parliament. She has previously been a four-time MLA from Jharkhand and has served as a cabinet minister of the Jharkhand government with portfolios such as Women and Child Welfare, Irrigation, and Registration. She has also been the Minister of State for Mines and Geology in the Bihar government.
Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, from Manipur, is a Lok Sabha MP for Inner Manipur in his 1st term as the Member of Parliament. Before his political career, he had a 4-decade long career as a Geography Professor and was also the Director of the College Development Council at Manipur University. Subhas Sarkar is a Lok Sabha MP for Bankura in West Bengal. It is also his 1st term as a Member of Parliament. He is a Gynaecologist and board member at AIIMS Kalyani.
With the appointment of these three new Education Ministers of State, a lot can be expected in the education sector. e-learning and Digital India might also see a change and topics such as Kendriya Vidyalas, Navodaya Vidyalas, Education of the girl child, and centrally sponsored scholarships might get more focus.
This cabinet reshuffle has also seen the resignation of Minister of State for Education, Sanjay Dhotre. He represents the Akola constituency of Maharashtra. Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' also resigned from the post of the Union Education Minister due to health reasons. He was the CM of Uttarakhand between 2009-11 and also took charge as the Education Minister in May 2019.
