Nalanda University to Introduce Vedic Studies

Nalanda University is planning to launch Vedic Studies along with some short-term executive programs on subjects like Yoga and Mindfulness.

Sunaina Singh, the vice chancellor stated that new departments will be created within the existing schools. For instance, the varsity is planning to introduce Indian Spiritual Tradition, Peace Studies and Vedic Studies in the School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions.

The VC expressed that Nalanda University can act as a bridge between India and Asian countries since the West always looks forward to India for solutions in spiritual and intellectual matters.

Singh shared that Indian knowledge systems shall be explored by the university. She also informed that the varsity may also begin some short-term executive programmes on subjects like Yoga and Mindfulness.

According to her, for achieving academic excellence, the university needs to build more departments and schools.

Singh disclosed that the School of International Relations and Peace and the School of Linguistics and Literature and Studies will be the next schools which the university will focus on.

The university is situated in a Buddhist Pilgrim town of Rajgir in Nalanda district of Bihar. It started its first academic session from September in the year of 2014 on a makeshift campus.

The institute is inspired by the global vision and academic excellence of its historic predecessor and aims to set and meet the global standards of academic excellence and research.
