No Delay in Disbursing Scholarships and Reimbursements: Telangana CM

K. Chandrasekhar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana, raised the issue relating to fee reimbursement in the State Assembly on December 4, 2017. He stated that the state government would continue fee reimbursement. The government has spent Rs. 1,400 crore so far towards the fee reimbursement of the students.

He assured the students as well as education institutes need not bother about the reimbursement. He said that the government will take all the possible steps to disburse scholarships on time without causing much delay. The issue was raised by an opposition leader who claimed that the government has been delaying the reimbursements and scholarships.

Reacting strongly to the opposition leaders, CM explained that the state government is committed to students and will not cause any difficulty or delay in disbursing scholarships and reimbursements. He further added that the opposition leaders are misleading the students on fee reimbursement issue.

Akbaruddin Owaisi, MIM MLA indicated that the present government failed to furnish the exact details of dues. The scholarship scheme is linked to 14 lakh students who belong to minority communities and the delay in disbursing scholarships will affect their career. Therefore, he requested the government to address the issue as early as possible.

Various colleges across Telangana went on strike in the month of September demanding immediate disbursal of pending scholarships and reimbursements. The strike went on for three days, and later the government assured that it would address the issue soon. Finally, the government took up the issue in the Assembly.
