No Indian University in Times Top 200 Varsities for International Students

As per the data collected by the Times Higher Education, Indian Universities failed to attract more international students and did not secure a spot in top 200 universities across the world. According to the data, not many international students prefer Indian universities, and surprisingly, most of the Indian students prefer foreign universities and going abroad to pursue various courses. Foreign universities across the globe have a good number of Indian students. However, Indian universities are enrolling less number of international students.

The low enrollment of international students in Indian universities is directly affecting the global rankings of the Indian varsities. Now, it is a major concern among all the varsities in the country.

Among the top cities, London, the Capital of England is a preferable destination for international students. Even the newly established universities in London also have a good number of international students. Students from various countries are pursuing higher studies in London.

Among the list of top 200 universities, the American University of Sharjah, UAE (United Arab Emirates) stood in the first place. The varsity has the highest number of international students. The total strength of the varsity is 5000, and out of them, 84% are international students. The university has international students from various countries like India, Jordan and Egypt.

The University of Sharjah is a part of the Association of American International Colleges. The varsity offers 13 Master’s degree programmes.

Similarly, London School of Economics and Political Science bagged a spot in top 30 for the fifth year consecutively. The varsity has the international students from 140 countries, and it has a wide alumni network in 200 countries.

Most of the Indian students who complete education in foreign nations usually tend to settle in the host country. It will have a negative impact on India and the country will lose skilled workforce. It is time for the Indian universities to take steps for attracting more international students and regulate Indian students going abroad for higher studies.
