No Clarity on Ownership of Visvesvaraya College of Engineering
Educational experts have questioned the State Government of Karnataka on the ownership of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and seek an answer on whether the institute is affiliated to Bangalore University or Bengaluru Central University.
Educational experts have questioned the ownership of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) regarding the fact that whether the college belongs to Bangalore University (BU) or Bengaluru Central University (BCU). The issue was raised after the official visit of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) to UVCE. The Council noticed that the number of professors in the institution is comparatively less as compared to the number that has been denoted by the institution. Only 90 teachers are working on a full-time basis out of the approved 180 teachers.
AICTE has advised reducing the intake of students for 2019-20 academic session to 10% so that the current availability of teachers can satisfy the educational demands of the students. On this recommendation, experts were in shock as they observed that the state government has neither appointed new faculty members nor has it settled the ownership confusion of University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering.
