School Teacher from Maharashtra Develops Student Programme for Creating Army of Peace Soldiers Globally

One of the Indian teachers from the state of Maharashtra has taken up the responsibility to move the young minds of the world towards attaining World Peace. A 30-year-old Ranjith Disale, who has been teaching the students of class 3 and 4, has been successful in designing a Global programme in “peace-building”. Ranjith Disale had been able to produce the idea in front of various educators from different parts of the globe and was also rewarded for the same at the Microsoft’s Education Exchange event, which had been held in Paris on April 2019.

Ranjith Disale’s vision of the motivating young minds will take place with the help of the 6-week programme that he developed for various schools students across the world as to accomplish the ‘sustainable development goals on peace’ envisioned by the United Nations by the year 2030. He plans to do so by developing strong, justiciable and peaceful institutions across the globe.

Currently, there are more than 11,000 students from over 250 schools from across the globe. The students connect using ‘Skype’ along with different technological programmes to hold different activities as well as interactions, after which, the students are termed as “peace soldiers”.

In his statement to PTI, Disale has aimed at connecting with a minimum of 50,000 students by the year 2030. He stated that he had been looking at connecting with students from different countries that have ranked low in the Global Peace Index, including India, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, Palestine as well as the United States of America and North Korea.

As per the programme, the group of students who will partake in the programme will be asked to send in a proposal through a teacher who would take the accountability in supervising the programme to Ranjith Disale.

Ranjith added that the first week of the programme will witness the students being paired with a “peace buddy” from a different country. Both the student and the “peace buddy”, Ranjith states, are supposed to communicate with each other along with taking part in different meaningful discourses.

In the second and the third week of the programme, the students will be asked to formulate a presentation, wherein, they will discuss the various issues and reasons as to why tensions exist between their countries as well as the difference between the two countries.

The fourth week of the programme will require the students to read extracts from the Autobiography of Satya Nadella’ “Hit Refresh”, the CEO of Microsoft. The students will be asked to bring forth the various ideas and notions in the 5th week of the programme, wherein they will discuss the various things that will help in bringing the ideal peace situation, not only between their countries but also the other countries.

The final week of the programme will be the period where each of the students will have to provide their commitments towards the steps that will be undertaken by them towards attaining the peace and becoming the peaceful citizens of the world. He stated that the 6-week programme can be tailored to suit the need of different countries, however, the basic aim of the programme has always been in bringing forth an army “peace soldiers”.

Ranjith Disale states that even though, one cannot decide the profession or career that one will join in the future, one can, however, try and ensure that the students grow up to be the peaceful citizens that the world needs.
