Savitribai Phule Pune University Shortens Admission Process of Ph.D. & M.Phil Courses
One of the leading university's in the state Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule Pune University has decided to remove two tests from the admission process of Ph.D. and M.Phil candidates.
In order to shorten the time-consuming procedures during the admission process into Ph.D. and MPhil courses, one of the leading university's in the state Maharashtra, Savitribai Phule Pune University has decided to remove two tests from the admission process of Ph.D. and M.Phil candidates.

Though the admission process for these courses takes around three months on an average, however, it is unnecessarily stretched up to 6 months, resulting in a delay in the commencement of the classes. Now, the University is gearing up for conducting one entrance test of 100 marks and the result of the examination will be declared within an hour.
Before the introduction of the new system of examination, students had to take two tests of 200 marks each. There was a gap of 3-4 months between the examinations and declaration of the results.
The first test was on a general aptitude test and it covered several subjects like numerical abilities, logical reasoning, language aptitude and reasoning. The second paper was subject specific and it carried descriptive questions on different topics.
Candidates after clearing the first examination have to appear for the second examination. The entire process of conducting the examination, scrutinising the question papers and announcing the result etc. required 3-4 months. By the time the admission process is completed it took another two months. As the result, the commencement of the examination was delayed and subsequently it took a long time to complete the syllabus of the courses.

With the introduction of the new process, it will take only a few hours to complete the examination process and it will also at the same time save energy and time of students and the University.
A press release from the University stated that new question paper will carry 50 marks on general aptitude and the rest of the questions will be subject specific. The candidates will be invited for the interview on the basis of the marks obtained in the second test.
