South Corporation Assures to Fill Vacant Teaching Positions
South Corporation has filed an affidavit which revealed that currently, 6,000 teachers are on rolls and only 701 teachers are working on contractual basis.
South Corporation has assured High Court of Delhi that it would fill the vacant teaching positions at various schools run by it. It has responded a contempt plea that was filed in High Court.
South Corporation has filed an affidavit which revealed that currently, 6,000 teachers are on rolls and only 701 teachers are working on contractual basis. The South Corporation has also indicated that it has begun induction to 40 candidates who will be appointed as special educators. The recommendation for the appointment of special educators has been made by Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board. The selection process of special educators is pending and is yet to be completed.

It also stated that a total number of 76 nursery teaching posts are vacant in various schools as well as 71 vacancies for the post of principal in primary schools are vacant. Currently, 510 principals are working in SDMC schools.
The plea was filed by an NGO which requested the court to intervene and direct Souther Corporation to fill 26,000 teaching posts in various government and municipal schools which are run by the state government and municipal corporations.

The NGO mentioned that lakhs of students are deprived of their fundamental right which indicates to receive the quality education.
NGO filed plea through Advocate Ashok Agarwal. The plea sought action against the various officials of Municipal Corporation working under Delhi government. The plea mentioned that these officials are accountable for intentional and deliberate disobedience to the order given by High Court on December 20, 2001. The plea indicated that there should be zero vacancies at the beginning of each academic year.
