Sports University to be Established in Assam
- The state government has decided to establish a sports university at Chabua as there is the immense potential of sports activities in Assam.

Sarbananda Sonowal Assam Chief Minister has decided to establish a sports university ats Chauba, Assam. According to the Chief Minister, sports is one of the thrust areas of the government and they are introducing new policies and measures to provide interested students with opportunities to have a successful career in sports.
Sarbananda addressed the audience at the felicitation ceremony of triumphant teams of the 8th Hockey India Sub-Junior National Championship and talked about the importance of sports and why is it important to have a sports university. He also informed the audience that the state government has decided to establish a sports university at Chabua as there is the immense potential of sports activities in Assam. Hence, it is important to provide these potential candidates with right facilities and opportunities in the sports arena.

He also said that sports is one of the focus areas of the state government and at present, they are working on several policies for the promotion and development of sports activities in the state. This initiative will help the students interested in sports with a platform to train for both national and international career opportunities. The state government of Assam is also planning to introduce indigenous sports events at all villages of the state from this month.

At last, Chief Minister congratulated the players for bringing victory to Assam in the championship. He was also the sports minister at the Centre earlier and said that he is proud of all the sports players in India.
