THE Asia University Rankings 2018: Osmania University Featured in Top 300

Osmania University has once again continued to evince good performance in global rankings. In THE World University Rankings 2018, the varsity has been able to feature in the list of top 1,000 institutes. The varsity secured a rank in the band of 800 – 1,000. However, the performance of Osmania University in THE Asia University Rankings 2018 is satisfactory. The varsity featured in the list of top 300 universities/ institute. The varsity has been placed in the ranking band of 250 – 300.
Apart from the rankings mentioned above, Osmania University bagged the 18th spot in Best Universities in India category.

Compared to the previous year’s rankings, Osmania University showed improvement in teaching and international outlook. However, the varsity marked a decline in research and industry income this year. The officials of the varsity pointed that poor research funding from major research funding agencies is the prime reason for the unsatisfactory performance in research.
According to THE, the total strength of Osmania University is 12,017. The varsity has been maintaining a good faculty-student ratio with 15.5 students for a faculty member. The female to male students’ ratio of Osmania University stood at 29:71. International students constitute to 3% of the overall student strength.

It is time for the varsity to attract more international students. The varsity is expected to get more autonomy to hire international faculty due to its outstanding performance in NAAC assessment.
