<p>An engineering student from the department of Computer Science of Anna University got the first Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship in India.
Ancy Philip from the Chennai based Anna University got the US$ 10,000 scholarship. The Scholarship is part of company’s global initiative to honor the outstanding service of Alan Mulally, the company’s former CEO.
Started in 2015, the Alan Mulally Leadership in Engineering Scholarship program will award 10 one-time $10,000 scholarships each year to students at premier partner universities around the world.
Ancy Philip is the first India to receive this prestigious scholarship. She received the award from Nigel Harris, President and Managing Director, Ford India and Dave Dubensky, Managing Director, Ford Global Business Services in the presence of Dr. Rajaram, Vice Chancellor of Anna University, students and teachers.
Scholarship winners will be connected with the company’s corporate science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) strategic initiative, which is building a new generation of leaders in these key disciplines.
With the investment, Ford looks to harness the talented pool of Indian talent for high-skill jobs across engineering, product development, IT, data analytics, manufacturing and business processes.
Spread over 300 acres, the Ford Chennai plant presently has an installed annual capacity to produce 200,000 vehicles and 340,000 engines.
