The Department of Telugu ofAndhra Loyola Collegehad organized a Wikipedia workshop at College FIT Lab on February 13, 2016. The Head of the Department of Telugu, Shri. Gumma Sambasiva Rao inaugrated the workshop. The workshop was about,Transalating the English articles of Wikipedia into Telugu.Around 25 students of Telugu Department participated in this workshop.
Lecturer of Telugu Department, Shri. Kola Shekar organized this workshop. He said that,Andhra Loyola College is the only college in Vijayawada which got request from Wikipedia for the transalation of articles.
He also said that, The college management has been very supportive. He gave special regards to Rev. Fr.GAP Kishore, Principal for helping the students in transalation.
Students opined that, It is time for them to buid up good command over Telugu language with the help of these workshops. They also thanked the management and Department for giving them this wonderful opportunity.
Rev. Fr.GAP Kishore, Principal said that, the college is going to conduct these workshops twice a month hereafter. The students have translated more than 2000 articles so far. All these students will be awarded with a certificate by Wikipedia. The students wil be paid by Wikipedia basing on the number of articles they have translated.
