World health day at Patna Medical College

Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) observed the celebration of World Health Day on April 7th 2016.

World Health Organization (WHO), in collaboration with the Bihar state health - department organized the consultation in PMCH (Patna Medical College and Hospital).

The program mainly focussed on beating diabetes. Diabetes affects a large number of people worldwide. The discussion was held in order to focus on generating awareness about diabetes amongst the common masses. The discussion started with a focus on the fact that the diabetes disease is no longer a disease, prevalent only amongst the rich people, but the disease has also started affecting the people of urban slums and rural areas in the developing countries like India.

A series of events marked World Health Day in the city of Patna on 7th April 2016. The theme of the celebration at the World Health Day in the year 2016 was “Beat Diabetes”. The program was organized at Patna Medical College and was observed by four hundred students and teachers of Patna Medical College, apart from the health department officials of the college.

The Community medicine department of Patna Medical College (PMCH) organized a quiz, slogan-writing competition, poster making competition on the theme, ‘Beat Diabetes’ for the students and the focus was mainly on defeating diabetes.
