Bihar: University Forgets to Print Question Papers, Last Exam Postponed

After topper scam, paper leaks and cheating instances, Bihar gets surrounded with another exam related issue. On Tuesday, April 11, 2017, 94 students of postgraduate Hindi programme, Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) could not appear for their second semester’s last exam as the question papers were not printed.

A show cause notice has been issued to the examination controller and Head of Department, Hindi. The final paper of the postgraduate Hindi programme was postponed as the questions papers were not printed by the university.

94 students that were supposed to write the exam had to return. The revised date of the exam has not been announced yet.

Ashok Thakur, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of TMBU, said that according to the Head of the Department (HoD), Hindi, the delay in printing the question paper occurred due to the confusion created by the new choice-based credit system (CBCS). According to sources, the HoD said that he was not aware of the subjects that were chosen by the students for the fourth paper.

This is not the first time that TMBU failed to conduct its examinations successfully. Earlier, shortage of answer books in the university resulted in the delay of degree part II examination. These examinations will now be started from April 25, the PRO added.

Officials of the university also informed that the printing of answer booklets was delayed as the former vice-chancellor was not allowed to take decisions regarding financial matters during the end of his term.

The process was further delayed as the VC in-charge, who took charge of the office, had limited decision-making powers.
