HRD Minister Smriti Irani, at a function organised at a Kendriya Vidyalaya said that all CBSE books and learning material will now be made available online and that too free of cost for students and that the government is also taking initiative to ensure holistic nurturing and improve learning outcomes in Government schools.

“We made NCERT books available online for free through e-books and mobile applications a month-and-a-half ago. We are similarly going to make CBSE books available online along with additional learning material and videos as part of our good governance efforts,” Irani said.

Keeping in mind Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s words that children should excel in studies and also in being a good human being, Irani has decided to organise ‘Baal Sabha’ (Child Conventions). Baal Sabha will include seminars and interactions between professional and children from different fields to make the children grow and become good from the heart and the mind.

Furthermore, services like ‘Shaala Darpan’, which aims in helping the parents keep a regular check on their child’s growth, attendance, marks, time tables etc will also be launched. The parents will be informed about the same via SMSes.

Another service ‘Saransh’,which will help parents compare the subject-wise learning outcomes of their children, with others at the district, state and national levels will also be launched in the next academic year.

“You need to check whether you are doing better than yesterday. Are we behaving better than yesterday. The focus should be that if a child gets out of educational institutes 20 years later, he/she should pass out as a sensible person,” Sisodia said.

“When we read in newspapers about communal violence, rapes somewhere, then we feel we fell short somewhere. Hence, we will have to take responsibility. A person is giving us 20 years of his/her life.” The AAP leader urged schools to take the responsibility of turning children into good human beings as they can make a difference in the way a child reacts to different situations and how he acts in the outside world.
