The tech savvy Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in a new initiative would be uploading the class 12th external marks online rather than sending them by post. The process would make life a lot easier for the schools. The move would apply to class 12th board exam where certain subjects have a component marked by CBSE certified external examiners.
This change is no doubt a welcome change as it would make the entire process instant. “This is a new system and now examiner can straightaway upload the marks on CBSE server after the test is over,” said Anmol Badjate, principal of Jain International School. Anuradha Sardeshpande, principal of Modern school (Koradi) stated,” This would be for board exam of standard XII as in Std X there are no external examiners. This will save a lot of paperwork and ensure records are updated in real time.” “This will save a lot of time because earlier the results had to be posted to CBSE and that would cause delays. Though we have never heard of results getting lost in mail but delays may certainly be happening,” said Reena Dargan, principal of Ira International School. CBSE has been continuously adding on to its digital infrastructure to ensure interaction with schools becomes easier and transparent.
CBSE has already created an online software that would generate question papers for internal exams, on-screen marking that is ensuring speedy results for class 10th, uploading of internal exam marks directly to servers etc. In its plan for 2016 the central board has reiterated to move further in this direction. Also the board is being helped by its overflowing coffers that currently stand at Rs. 1,500 crore in cash and equivalents to invest heavily in its digitization efforts.
