Charanjit Singh Channi, Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training minister ordered the academic and administrative audit of private and government technical institutions in the state on Monday.
As per the official release, he issued the orders in a meeting regarding the audit with officials of the technical education & industrial training department. He also said that the government is taking major steps towards making changes in the education system and to improve the quality of technical education in the state.

According to him, the need of the hour is to improve the credibility and work on the quality of technical educational institutes so that various national and international industries can come forward for the placements. The audit of the technical institutes will be conducted by government officials and the report for the same will be submitted by 31 March 2018 and institutes will provide 15 days after the submission of a report to fulfil the shortcomings. He also mentioned that institutes who will fail to fulfil the terms and conditions then an action would be initiated against them.

The Punjab Government has also decided to set up CCTV cameras and security systems in the institutes to monitor the examination centres of technical institutes. The board and department have been directed to ensure the online working of CCTV cameras and security system from this academic year to keep a check on cheating during exams.
