Research and academic activities of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) and Coventry University,UK are to be explored possibly through a collaboration between these two universities.
The decision of collaboration was taken after the visit of the representatives of Coventry University to Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) on 3 September, 2018. As per the press release of KAU, Coventry University’s Group Organisation Development Director Mark Holton and Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellor (teaching and learning) Andrew Turner came for the visit on Saturday. Officials of KAU and Coventry University discussed a few matters including the scope of identification of programmes that will be held under this new collaboration.

Strategies to develop Climate Resilient Water Management and scope of Rural Development and Sustainable Agriculture by reaching out to institutional intervention and farming communities were identified as promising areas of the partnership, added the Director of Research of KAU, P. Indiradevi in the press note.
Other promising areas of the partnership included student exchange programmes in molecular biology and biotechnology, bio-solid waste management technologies and organic agriculture.
Coventry University’s group also went to Mannuthy, agricultural research station situated near Kerala Agricultural University. The team also sat for the conversation with the workers, farm officers and scientists associated with Mannuthy at KAU. The team of Coventry University also showed curiosity and involvement in activities engaging farmers and KAU’s formulated technologies.

These areas interested Coventry University’s team as they have also been involved in organic agriculture and have established a research centre for the same. Study on intercropping, eco-system based agriculture, management of organic waste, aquatic systems and grey water are also done in Coventry University added Andrew Turner.
