Delhi University is planning to introduce an aptitude test for the next academic year 2019-20. The aptitude test will act as a filtration system and will help the university pick the right students. If the respective exam is introduced candidates would have to pass the test to become eligible for admissions on the basis of merit/ cut-off lists set by various colleges in the university.
As per the sources, five members of the sub-committee are looking into the online testing as per the proposal discussed in the meeting on Friday. Pankaj Garg, one of the board members of the proposal stated that the test will be a filtration system in picking up right candidates for the right courses as students come from all sort of backgrounds from different boards and difficulty levels. He also mentioned that the committee has another meeting scheduled on Thursday for further discussions and deliberations.

Members of the committee suggested that the DU should continue to follow admissions on the basis of class 12th marks with some alterations. However, nothing is confirmed yet and whatever decision is taken, will only be effective from the 2019-20 academic year. Since the decision involves long-term implications, it must be taken after a careful consideration and thought.Once the committee has arrived on a final decision on the matter, it is only then recommendations will be sent to the admission committee.

In case the approval is passed, three online tests will be conducted. One for each stream- science, commerce, and arts. Mauraya, Kalindi College also stated that the proposal received mixed reactions from anyone and the board is still considering various possibilities for the same before the final decision.
