DU's 60th Annual Flower Show to Commence on February 23, 2018
  • 60th annual flower show of Delhi University is all set to commence from 23rd February 2017.
  • Participation of gardeners, horticulturists, photographers, students, teachers and flower enthusiasts from all over the Delhi NCR region.

The 60th Annual Flower Show of Delhi University or DU is all set to commence on 23rd February 2018, with a plethora of activities, that will see the participation of gardeners, horticulturists, photographers, students, teachers and flower enthusiasts from all over the Delhi NCR region.

Every year, towards the end of the winter season, the popular Delhi University organises the flower show. The Mughal Garden of North Campus of University of Delhi is opened for visitors and guests. Both, the indigenous and the exotic potted plants are displayed, at the exhibition for the students and visitors from different colleges of the University. Some of the prominent competitions to be held during the show this year include-

  • Flower rangoli competition
  • On-the-spot photography competition

The show invites both non-competitive and competitive entries from colleges affiliated to DU, educational institutes and various schools. On the day of the show, awards are presented in different categories such as -

  • Best garden
  • Best lawn and shrubs
  • Best gardeners
  • Best horticulturists

For the first time, on-the-spot photography competition is being organised. This year, the theme for the competition is 'Flower and Emotions' and it is open to all the interested people. The participants can register for the competition at the spot itself between 12 noon and 1 p.m. Photographers intending to participate in the competition must submit a soft copy of their photographs.

The entry for visitors and students to the flower show is free. The website of the University states that this year special attractions will be on orchids, succulents, cacti, and herbal plants. The other main attractions will be a cultural program, food stalls and DU Haat.

The flower show will open at 12 noon and will remain open until 5 p.m.
