Education is as Important as GDP: Pranab Mukherjee

At the book launch of Manish Sisodiya, Pranab Mukerjee said that Education and happiness go hand in hand. He also added Education is as essential for the country as GDP for the country.

Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia had his book launch on 5th of September at New Delhi. While attending the event, Pranab Mukherjee, former president of India, spoke about the necessity of education in an individual’s life. He said that education and happiness are related to one another, education is the foundation of one’s joy. He also added that for a county, education is as important as the GDP of a country.

Mr. Mukherjee also expressed his views by stating that a large number of students come to Delhi to complete higher education with high hopes and dreams, thus, as the policymakers, the responsibility to provide better facilities in terms of education and living lies in the hands of the government.

Deputy CM, Manish Sisodia was working on the book - Siksha: A Journey from a long time now. The book contains his experiences of all these years, he has served as the education minister of Delhi and how he transformed the old education systems of Delhi.

Manish Sisodiya said that he wrote the book ‘Siksha’ on the request of ordinary teachers, research practitioners, and scholars he has worked with, in his tenure as the Education Minister of Delhi. He has met people that have motivated him enough to start and complete his journey to the book ‘Siksha’.

Deputy CM spent days and night to write this book and google speech-to-text tool helped him a lot. The book ‘Siksha’ is in two parts:

  • Part 1 - Fixing of Foundation of Education
  • Part 2 - Using education as Foundation for India

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal, also attended the book launch. He commented that about 25% of the budget of Delhi has been allocated to the education sector only.

Education, for sure, is an essential tool not only for the happiness of people but to also achieve goals. It brings economic growth, personal growth, and satisfaction in one’s life.
