EFLU Foreign Language Course Applications Witness a Surge

EFLU receives 49% more applications for various courses in the University. The college authorities point at the quality improvement behind the response and the University has also simplified its entrance exam pattern.

13,384 students are taking the admission tests for 2019-20 academic year in English and Foreign Language University (EFLU). Going by the numbers, it is clear that the courses offered by EFLU (English and Foreign Language University) are high in demand for the next academic year.

The University saw an increase in the applications by 49% from the 2017-18 academic year. The number in 2017 was 8,617, the upcoming year’s 13,384 applications only point towards the increasing popularity of the varsity.

According to the university authorities, continuous self-evaluation of quality, and development related expansion plans played the key role behind the increased popularity of EFLU.

The college currently is providing 40 courses in which, 8 are undergraduate level, 14 are PG level and 15 are Ph.D. courses with 3 teachers training courses.

The total number of 13,384 candidates appearing for the entrance test in the university are from different parts of the country as the entrance test is being taken in 22 centres across the country. Out of the total application received, 4,307 were received for BA; 5,868 applications were received for MA; 2,600 for Ph.D. and 382 applications for BEd. 15 for PGDTA (Arabic) and 212 for PGDTE (English) were also received.

From this year onwards, the university authorities decided to scrap the personal interview for admissions at the University. Previously, 70 marks for entrance and 30 for personal interview were allotted but this year, the prime criteria of admissions are the entrance test only.

The authorities also scrapped descriptive type questions in EFLU PhD admissions for 2019 to get it replaced by multiple choice type questions.
