Union Bank of India has agreed to establish a study chair on Banking & Finance at the Campus of GITAM University.
When Arun Tiwari, Chairman and Managing Director of Union Bank of India visited GITAM University made the proposal and he accepted the proposal immediately. The Chairman was present in the University along with other bank officials.
Tiwari also inaugurated the multi-storey girls hostel Nirmala Sadan along with GITAM president Dr. MVVS Murthi. Later on, while taking part at Distinguished CEO Lecture on ‘Role of Banking Sector in Economic Development’ he said that the public sector banks in the country were playing a key role in overall economic development.
“There is lots of competition in the banking sector. As a result, customers are getting lots of better services to their satisfaction,” said Tiwari.
“Union Bank of India’s success in various sectors and we are going on with the new trends of times like - mobile banking and internet banking,” he added
He also showed interest to support GITAM Center for Gandhian Studies. While GITAM president Dr. MVVS Murthi invited the UBI chairman to act as GITAM honorary faculty position after his retirement to share his experiences with the students and thereby enrich the knowledge base of the students.
Prof K Ramakrishna Rao Chancellor of GITAM and Vice-Chancellor Prof M Prasada Rao requested the UBI chairman to support the university to establish a training center in GITAM to train the human resource to meet the bank requirements so that students easily get placement there.
