Governor of Uttarakhand Asks the Varsities to Fund Higher Education of Poor Girls
The Governor of Uttarakhand, Mr. Krishnakanth Paul asked the private varsities in the state to fund the higher education of girls who belong to underprivileged families and for those who are living in hilly regions.
He mentioned that the private universities in Uttarakhand must meet the expenses of higher education for the girls of these categories out of their CSR Funds. They need to provide hostel facilities for these girls. The hostel facilities must be provided on a priority basis. Special financial arrangements have to be made for research in various universities.
The governor of the state will be interacting with the VCs of various Universities regarding improving standards in education and qualitative improvement of higher education. Proper stress will be made on basic infrastructure facilities in state universities and develop universities on par with national and international standards.
The government has taken a good initiative in giving more importance for girls education on lines of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
