GTU Annual Exams Postponed - Check New Dates

Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has decided to postpone the exams which were supposed to begin from July 2 for the final year students. On July 1, the Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama announced that all university exams in Gujarat have been put on hold.

Students were given the option to opt for either online examination or offline examination. Around 1.2 lakh final year students from all streams are supposed to appear for the final year exams conducted by GTU, and the registration process for the same commenced from June 19. GTU is one of the first universities to take the initiative of conducting exams in both online and offline mode to ensure the safety of the students. The offline exams were scheduled from July 2 and the online examinations were scheduled from July 21.

GTU had earlier conducted an opinion poll on its website to get students' opinions regarding the exams. Roughly 54,000 students voted for the exams to be conducted. 900 students were against it.

The university Vice-Chancellor Prof Navin Sheth said that many students approached the university to postpone examination or to promote them on the basis of internal assessment. However, the university has decided to conduct an examination in both online and offline mode. The decision has been taken to address the concerns of both parents and students due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

An online meeting was held between the VC and principals of GTU affiliated colleges and was attended by senior officials of the examination section of the university. The Vice-Chancellor further said that all precautionary measures like maintaining social distancing and thermal scanning will be done at the examination centre.
