To tackle the long pending vacancies in the colleges of Haryana, the government will be designating two hundred and fifty-four new teachers as faculty. The state of Haryana is dealing against the statewide need of 6,600 teaching staff, to which, 2,300 teachers on an extension basis and 2,400 teachers are appointed on a regular basis.
Since a very long time, the Department of Higher Education in the state of Haryana was facing acute shortage of eligible teachers. For this, the HPSC (Haryana Public Service Commission) was sent an application in February this year to fill up the vacant posts in various categories. This led to the commencement of the recruitment procedure in the state.
While giving the statistics for the job vacancies to the HHRC (Haryana Human Rights Commission), Panchkula SP Sukhija said that such requisition to fill the position of about 1647 regular assistant professors was received from the HPSC in the year 2017-18. The officer further added that these positions are now successfully filled by appointing eligible candidates.
Reviewing the deployment of one regular lecturer over 181 students at Government Colleges at Hathin, Palwal district, a bench of three judges quoted it as the serious violation of the human rights of the students. To this, Mr Sukhija said that due to the increment in students’ strength from 84 - 181 in the past two years, the concerned authorities have made a requisition of a total of 9 teachers along with a regular one for the deployment.

Although the issue of this long-time vacancy will take time to be resolved completely, the recruitments of new teaching faculty are going to help in bettering the situation. This might envisage the successful spend of 13 crores to promote the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign in the last two years.
