With an objective to give more emphasis on girl’s education, Ministry of Human Resource and Development has constituted a sub-panel of CABE or Central Advisory Board of Education. Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana, Mr. Kadiyam Srihari has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee to look into the issue of upliftment of girl’s education.
The primary objective for constituting a committee was the low participation of girls in education. Various socio-economic factors like gender bias are restricting girls from taking up education. Therefore, the committee will suggest ways to mitigate gender disparity and achieve gender parity index.
Kadiyam Srihari who also holds the position of Education Minister of Telangana will assess the present status of girls’ enrollment in educational institutes starting from primary level to senior secondary level. The committee will also analyse participation of girls at all levels of school education from the socio-economic group of SC/ST, rural-urban areas and other minorities. The committee will primarily aim to reduce the educational disparities among them which are prevalent now.
The committee headed by Kadiyam Srihari will also examine various schemes, incentives and measures which play a significant role in enhancing girls’ education. The committee will provide probable measures for the better implementation of schemes. Safety of girls especially in residential schools and hostels is one among the priority issues that the committee will look into.
Developing infrastructure and checking the existing facilities whether they are functioning properly will also be the responsibility of the committee. It will submit the report within one year after holding consultations with central and state governments, stakeholders and others.
