Facing competition from the international boards, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations or CISCE that conducts ICSE and ISC examinations is planning to introduce a new kind of academic and administrative system for the schools. To Implement the same, the board officials had a meeting with the school principals of Maharashtra last week.
Digitisation of all processes including permissions for concessions will be done. Also, the changes in administration will include routine inspection of the schools. The students will get digital copies of question papers and samples from Class 9. Collaborations with international boards such as Cambridge was also hinted by some officials. A south Mumbai school principal informed that the board is looking forward to collaborations with international boards but there is no clarity how or when the process is going to take place.
Currently, there are about 250 boards in Maharashtra which are affiliated to the board. Some teachers have opposed the decision by saying that the idea of collaboration with the international boards will go against the basic philosophy of ICSE.
