IGNOU to Start Courses on RTI

With the motive to encourage and spread awareness about the Right to Information act among people, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will have certificate and diploma courses available regarding the same subject.

This course will now be a compulsory part of the training module for all Central Government employees. IGNOU in collaboration with The Central Information Commission (CIC) will provide quality education in this subject.

"We gauged that though people understand the importance of RTI, it is not widely known how to go about it, what are the technicalities, how to frame the questions, how and where to make further appeals and much more," a senior university official said.

"That is why we decided to introduced the course and approached CIC for their support in content generation and other similar issues," he added.

The Faculty of Public Administration at IGNOU's School of Social Sciences and the CIC team are trying to come up with ideas related to content and curriculum of the course.
