IIM Rohtak Management Summit Witnesses Participation of Top Business Leaders

  • Business leaders from varied industries took part in the event to share insights and knowledge with management students of the premier institute.
IIM Rohtak Management Summit Witnesses Participation of Top Business Leaders

Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak organised the second edition of Management Summit on October 9, 2017, at New Delhi. The summit witnessed the participation of renowned business leaders, media houses and public sector companies. Top business leaders assembled to share their ideas, thoughts and experiences with the budding business graduates and community.

The Management Summit of IIM-Rohtak, also known as ManSum is an annual event organised by the institute. The theme for the 2017 edition of ManSum was ‘Paradox of Innovation’ which focused on probable ways to exploit existing product innovation capabilities for a better future. Dignitaries from industry sectors and media also took part in the summit.

Mr. Venkatesh Sarvasiddhi (Head of Academic Initiatives & Microsoft Innovation Centre) mentioned that innovation means not merely launching new products, but making technology easier for everyone. Microsoft invests $8.5 billion in Research & Development annually. However, what is important to learn is that investing money is not the major objective of the company but investing it in the right place to bring a wave/ change in technology is the prime motive.

Mr. Rasool Bailay (Senior Assistant Editor at Economic Times) pointed that there were lengthy articles of over 1,500 words in a printed format which were released earlier. Today, youth are keen on reading the ‘bytes’ of news due to the advent of technology. The emergence of social networks like Facebook and Twitter along with different news apps have enabled the media houses to tap these new avenues for revenue generation and brand building.

Ms. Rashmi Jahagirdar (Global Head of QA Strategy and Management, Deutsche Bank) explained that the era of cost optimisation has crept into the economy, as a result of which the banking sector must revive themselves constantly.

The Creative Director at NDTV, in his speech, expressed that analysis of art is a difficult task since it is an expression. Comparing it to today, he said that the analysis of a show is done using its reach on the internet. In the contemporary world, people are always keen to learn or know about something new and hence the focus of media has now shifted to shows with independent artists.

Professor Dheeraj Sharma, Director of IIM Rohtak thanked all the dignitaries while proposing the Vote of Thanks. He indicated that the purpose of holding an interaction between students and industry experts is to bridge the gap that exists. The interaction will not only help the students to gain knowledge and information but will also enable them to gather insights regarding the business syndicates.
