IIM Sambalpur launches B.S. programmes in Data Science & AI and Management & Public Policy. The inaugural batch consists of 178 students from over 20 states in India.

IIM Sambalpur Inaugurates First-Ever Batch of B.S. Programme: IIM Sambalpur has recently launched two cutting-edge undergraduate programmes, B.S. in Data Science & Artificial Intelligence, and B.S. in Management & Public Policy, in alignment with the National Education Policy 2020. The inaugural batch, comprising 178 students from over 20 states, marks a significant milestone for the institute and higher education in India.

IIM Sambalpur B.S. Program Details

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Data Science & AI: 88 students, with 69 males and 19 females, were admitted through JEE (Main) 2025, with the highest admitted rank being 44,645. The average Class 12th score of admitted students is 90.5%.
Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management & Public Policy: 90 students, with 51 males and 39 females, were admitted through CUET (UG) 2025, with top scorers achieving a 99.80 percentile. The average Class 12th score of admitted students is 88.2%.

Curriculum and Objectives

The programs are designed to develop responsible leaders with a balance of academic rigor, innovation, and social responsibility.
The curriculum is aligned with top universities like MIT, Stanford, Harvard, and Carnegie Mellon University.
The programs aim to equip students with skills in data analysis, critical reasoning, and evidence-based decision-making.

Inaugural Ceremony

Ratnesh Jha, Executive Director, UN Global Compact Network India, congratulated IIM Sambalpur for excellent NIRF rankings 2025 and successful inauguration of the first batch of the B.S. Programme.
Prof. Mahadeo Jaiswal emphasized the importance of nurturing four kinds of intelligence: IQ, EQ, PQ, and SQ, for holistic growth.

IIM Sambalpur is the first IIM to offer admissions to its B.S. programs through IIT JEE Main and CUET.
The institute has climbed 16 positions in the NIRF ranking 2025, showcasing its commitment to academic excellence.
The programs have a strong industry interface, with guest lectures and expert sessions featuring industry leaders like Vivek Agarwal, Country Director, Tony Blair Institute, and Harpreet Singh, Head – Counterparty Credit Risk, BFSI Sector.
