An alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, Partha S Ghosh will donate 1 million US dollar to the institute. The donation will be used in the establishment of an Academy of Leadership. The academy will be first of its kind across the country.
A Memorandum of Understanding regarding the same has been signed between IIT KGP and the alumnus member on 2nd October 2018. At present, Ghosh is a professor at Tufts University and was a former partner at McKinsey and Company.

As per the IIT KGP release, the main aim of the Partha S Ghosh Academy of Leadership is to develop new innovative programmes by combining science and engineering with liberal arts, reasoning and philosophy.

The new programmes will not only focus on scientific and technical training but will also include the teaching of philosophy, reasoning, initiative thinking and systems engineering. According to Ghosh, there will be more such models which are just not about the core curriculum but combines other education models of arts and humanities.
